Trillanes Takes Over The Peninsula

Trillanes Takes Over the Peninsula

Here we go again.

The right honorable Senator Trillanes is showing us how much he respects the rule of law in our country by walking out of the courtroom where his case was being heard by Judge Oscar Pimentel. He is now holed up in the Peninsula Hotel over in Makati.

Pundits are calling this another coup attempt, like the Oakwood Mutiny fiasco a few years ago. Which, by the way, was led and masterminded by the SAME guy. Good old Trillanes. Except back then, he didn’t have the Senator tag on him yet.

I respect our leaders. The people voted for him and made him Senator. I disagreed greatly with him being voted into power because I believed that he had no qualifications to be Senator, aside from being a would-be coup leader. But he won, and that was that.

So far his performance as Senator has been less than exemplary though. Since being voted into power, he has used his position to call for countless hearings against the government, virtually blamed the administration for the explosion at Glorietta as part of some sort of conspiracy (where he cited confidential sources which, to date, he has refused to name), and now he has tried another coup attempt of sorts.

I’m surprised he didn’t do this at Oakwood again. He could have made it a sequel. It would sound nice too. The Oakwood Mutiny Part II: Trillanes Strikes Back.

I hear elements of the marines are standing with him, and that supposedly civil society groups will support him, along with some Church groups.

A quick plea to those who plan to head to the Makati Pen to support him: please don’t.

Think about it. If this succeeds, who gets to be the next president? Not Noli de Castro because Trillanes and company will demand he steps down. Not Villar or even De Venecia because I doubt if Trillanes will want them in power either. Oh no, it will be the Trillanes show all the way.

It would be President Trillanes next, not senator.

What then?

We can only hope this will fizzle out soon in a peaceful manner. And an example made. Because enough is enough. I want stability. The people want stability. And this guy, the right Honorable Senator Trillanes, isn’t giving us anything remotely close to stability.

All he has been giving us is instability. And he shouldn’t be rewarded for it. We already rewarded him when we made him Senator. We shouldn’t reward him now.

We should punish him as the law provides, and make sure that this time, he learns his lesson.

Maybe then this won’t happen again. Ever.
